food is meant to be enjoyed

It’s always been our goal to create delicious baked goods made with whole, mindful ingredients (including love). So we did. And we do!

So when you are eating food that tastes good and brings you pleasure, you're also triggering digestion. source

Back before we started, we did plenty of food research and learned how we could remove some of the “guilt.” We swapped oil for applesauce, bleached for unbleached flour, refined for pure cane sugar, GMOs for non-GMOs and so on. But, of course, it is still important that healthier ingredients don’t compromise the flavor or texture. The reasoning for that is obvious as enjoyment is high on the list for why we all choose to eat some foods over others.

If you eat something that you don't really want or like, or you feel guilty or ashamed while eating it, you trigger the body's stress response. source

Too often, snack foods and sweets are lumped in the category of guilty pleasures or junk food. That’s understandable, but we shouldn’t feel guilty about receiving pleasure from certain “junk” foods in moderation! A balanced, healthy, mindful lifestyle is key, and good food is such a big key to happiness, health and balance throughout a lifetime.

We know the main reason to eat is for fuel/nutrients, buuuuuut the pleasure principle has very unique + necessary benefits. Foods we love can stimulate good memories and create new ones. And we all know what a delicious bite can do to our mood! This is not to excuse nor encourage an unhealthy relationship with food, but to merely remind you to enjoy what you eat⏤because whether it’s for nutrients, pleasure, or both⏤it’s good for you.
