Listen, now more than ever, intimate details of people’s personal and professional lives are up for constant viewing. It’s like a cable subscription to many, many mini reality shows, y’all. I don’t mind it as it can be quite inspiring (and entertaining).
YET I know that this time of year, folk feel the need to go above and beyond. Do better. Do more. Do SOMETHING! But if you’re feeling out of sorts for whatever reason⏤recovering from another holiday season without the ability to see family, sickness, drained from going so hard or just over it⏤I’m here to say you can sit down. You can relax in January. February too. You don’t have to have your Q1 calendar planned and ready for tackling.
I’m all for personal betterment and applying pressure to places in your life where you know you need it, but sis and I, we love taking this slower season sloooww ok. After such a crazy holiday season, we embrace the calm. This time is what makes the harder times manageable.
I hope you’re feeling good + make some great plans to create the year you desire⏤but know that it’s ok if you don’t. And please try to view the cable stations of social media more as inspiration and entertainment, not as a guide for what you need to be doing. You’ve heard of immune system fatigue? Well I think the constant information intake and stimulation can also cause fatigue. I’m sure it’s not just me.
