Replace Urgency With Momentum

Replace Urgency With Momentum

We’re back!

Where did we go exactly? Maybe around the world. Maybe we stayed in Georgia on an extended staycation. Maybe you should check out our stories sometime and take some guesses ;)

We not only took a little break, but we were blessed with a hefty order that pretty much demanded that we not do anything else. And until we can hire a team that can work without us, “closing” the kitchen when we take personal breaks is necessary.

This⏤the thought of always having to close up shop when we want a break⏤used to frustrate me; I thought I should be closer to my goal of hiring a reliable, competent team. It seemed like I was looking left and right at others entrusting their employees with their precious business babies and envied their presumed freedom to drop everything, get away and not be so hands on.

Now, today, I’m not so frustrated. Nowhere near frustrated actually :)

Listen why:

I was on a Luminary call last week with Allison Davis (I love Luminary, btw. You should join. And Allison is hilarious and amazing!) This call was right on time because Allison said just what I needed to hear: REPLACE URGENCY WITH MOMENTUM.

This simple statement is profound in this time where EVERYONE is always online and constantly selling to you without trying to seem like they’re selling to you, you’re being told to share share share and that mo’ content, mo’ money is a thing.

Y’all! Sometimes it is juss tew musch! Just the thought of being omnipresent on each social platform, fresh faced for video chats and enthusiastic and available in your actual life life makes me need a nap. But my little break and Allison reminded me that is ok to move differently. There is still a whole pandemic going on and how we function as a society will never look the same; that is a lot to absorb and I dunno if we’re supposed to be taking in so much extra everything so often and moving so fast. And really, at this rate of consumption, I ask when are we full? Have we been full for awhile and now we’re just gorging?

So I’m opting to create momentum instead of a sense of urgency⏤in business and elsewhere. I’m kind of over all this constant urgency. Creating my own momentum seems like the more peaceful, stressless route and having peace is almost always funner than anything.

What reminds you that your pace is the best pace? Has anything spoken right to you lately to remind you that you’re on the right path or that it’s ok to slow down?
